small animated globe with syncopated rotation adapted from a source posted at http://www.gifs.net/animate/page56.htm Several years ago when they were much more in vogue, I wanted to have an animated globe as part of my design. In particular, although the trend was fading in California by 1997, animated GIF images were very hot in Romania, where I was living for most of that year. (I helped build the national petroleum / geologic database of the country as a worker in a USAID-funded project with field work centered in Bucharest.) So this little globe has some memories for me. To make it smaller and more efficient, slightly more subtle than boring, I have edited the frames to shrink them and make the rotation something that one must pay many seconds of attention to in order to catch every jump. Otherwise, my hope is that people who don't like animated GIF files will not be offended by it, only perhaps a bit perplexed when they look up after a few seconds to find that the globe has changed.
